Dan Hersey Warwick School Committee · District 2

Reach Dan

Tell me what you’re seeing.

I was elected on November 3 and take my seat when the new term begins in January. Between now and then, and for the four years after, the most useful thing a District 2 family can do is tell me what’s working in Warwick’s schools and what isn’t. I read every message and answer personally.

Email

Dan is listening.

No form letters and no auto-replies. I usually write back within two business days. If it’s about something specific in a school, include enough detail that I can look into it: the school, the grade, what happened, and when.

Until January I can’t act on it as a committee member, but I can tell you who at the district can, and I’ll follow up.

Tell me what you’re seeing

This opens an email with a short template so I have what I need to help.

Ask the Ledger mailbag

Each month’s Plain-English Ledger answers two reader questions about the schools, the budget, or the buildings. I leave your name off unless you ask me to include it.

Coffee hour

An hour a month, in the neighborhood.

I’m setting up a monthly coffee hour inside District 2, somewhere between Riverview and Oakland Beach, where anyone can come and talk about the schools. The first date and place will be posted on the Updates page and on Facebook as soon as it’s set.

Host one on your street

If you’d rather gather a few neighbors in your own kitchen, I’ll come to you. Four people around a table tell me more than a hundred emails.

Come to a meeting

Every meeting is public.

The School Committee meets once a month, usually at Veterans Middle School at 5:30 p.m., with public comment on the agenda. The School Building Committee, which approves the high school construction bills and change orders, meets on the first Wednesday of most months at 7:30 a.m. Each agenda links to a public folder with that meeting’s packet, which is the written material the members get, and I read it before every meeting; you can too.

District 2 covers Wards 4, 5, and 6 of Warwick, including Riverview, Conimicut, Warwick Neck, Buttonwoods, and Oakland Beach. If you’re not sure which district you live in, the Secretary of State’s voter lookup will tell you from your address.
