How we handle your information.

This website is operated by Friends of Dan Hersey as part of Dan Hersey’s campaign for Warwick School Committee, District 2. We try to handle personal information with the same plain-language transparency we promise everywhere else on this campaign. This page tells you exactly what is collected, why, and how to get in touch if you want it removed.

Information you give us directly

When you email the campaign, sign up to volunteer, or otherwise contact us through this site, we collect the information you choose to share: typically your name, email address, phone number, neighborhood or ward, and the contents of your message. We use that information to write back to you, follow up on volunteer interest, and send occasional campaign updates if you ask to receive them.

Information collected automatically

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages voters are reading and how people arrive at the site. We have configured Google Analytics to anonymize visitor IP addresses before they are stored, and we do not use Google’s advertising or remarketing features. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies and collects standard browser information (page paths, referring source, approximate location at the city level, device type, and browser type). It does not collect your name, email, or any data that personally identifies you to us.

You can opt out of Google Analytics across every site you visit by installing the official Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by enabling Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track in your browser.

What we do not do

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not run remarketing or ad-targeting pixels. We do not have third-party tracking scripts on this site beyond Google Analytics. Forms on this site submit via your email client, so the contents of those messages reach the campaign inbox through your normal email provider rather than through a third-party form processor.

How long we keep what you send us

We keep the contents of emails and volunteer signups for the duration of the campaign and a reasonable period after the election to comply with campaign-finance recordkeeping. Google Analytics retains aggregated visitor data for 14 months and then automatically deletes it.

Your rights

You can ask us to delete the information you have given us at any time. Email dan@herseyforwarwick.com and we will confirm the deletion in writing. Rhode Island residents may also have additional rights under state law, and we will honor any documented request to access, correct, or delete information consistent with applicable law.

Changes to this policy

If we add new tools (for example, an ActBlue donation processor, an email newsletter system, or a volunteer management platform), we will update this page before turning them on and note the change here with a new “last updated” date.
